ABSTRACT
Fractures of the distal femoral third represent about 7% of fractures of this bone structure; among these are isolated fractures of the femoral condyles in the coronal plane called "Hoffa fractures" and represent 0.65% of all fractures femoral. Hoffa fractures are primarily associated with high-energy trauma. As reported in the literature, the two leading causes are motorcycle accidents (80.5%) and falls from a height (9.1%). The Letenneur classification and computed tomography classification (CT). These types of fractures, being considered intra-articular, require surgical intervention. However, a consensus has yet to be reached regarding the surgical technique that represents a better evolution and prognosis for the patient in the long term. The best surgical treatment is still considered the one determined by the surgeon's experience and skill.
