ABSTRACT
Introduction. Assisted reproduction services in Cuba have reoriented their legal framework in order to broaden the perspective towards all existing family configurations in Cuban society, with homoparental families being benefited in this process. In order to achieve an effective implementation of the laws, it is imminent to give a retrospective look at the process, in order to know the felt needs of those actors involved in the process, highlighting the potential of the system and its possible modifications, given the existence of laws. Objective. To evaluate the implementation of assisted reproduction services, in relation to the inclusion of homoparental families, from the perspective of the actors involved during the period 2018-2020. vMethodology. An exploratory and descriptive qualitative study was used in this research work. An in-depth interview was used with experts, health personnel and homoparental families. Results. The health personnel and the families interviewed recognized the non-recognition of these before the law as the main obstacle to care for them, a debt that is settled with the legal modifications that this process implies. But a process of training and awareness for the implementation of these is imminent. Conclusion. There are conditions and a need for the improvement of assisted reproduction services. The work must be aimed at achieving an effective implementation of the laws and the training of health personnel who works in it, in order to eradicate stigma and discrimination towards families that break with the precepts of the patriarchal system.
