ABSTRACT
Introduction. Usually, studies on gender violence have focused its attention on the one that it is exercised towards cisgender women. This comprehension leaves out all those people who are also victims of the rigid structures and designs of the patriarchy. The violence these groups experience occurs in all spaces, including relationships. The research that originated this article had the Objective to characterize gender violence in a group of couples where one of the members is a trans woman. Methodology. The study was based on a mixed methodological approach, exploratory and descriptive. The selection of the subjects was carried out through a non-probabilistic sampling in the typology of sample by opportunity. Self-administered questionnaires and group interviews were used to collect the information. Results: in the love dyad, trans women were the most violated with evidence in different ways. A naturalization of violent behaviors was identified, based on attachment to a hegemonic model of masculinity. Expressions of disapproval and rejection are maintained in families. In medical services, trans women and their partners were victims of violence by providers and other users present. Conclusions. Violence in the couples studied is naturalized and occurs in a cross, combined and continuous process. Within couples, the characteristics associated with the prevailing models of masculinity and femininity is reproduced.
