ABSTRACT
Introduction. Narratives emerge from an experience that is lived and shared in the nursepatient relationship at the moment of providing care. This represents an opportunity to expand the knowledge that arises in practice to bring it toward the theory, highlighting the details that may seem insignificant but matter to the person being cared for. Body. The care experience stems from the home care of two elderly patients: Javier, aged 94 years, diagnosed with renal failure and dementia; and Lucero, 86, with arterial hypertension, diabetes, and dementia. Through this narrative, the central concepts of the nursing discipline identified by Newman et al. are determined, namely, health, care, awareness, mutual process, pattern, presence, and meaning. These concepts were chosen in order to analyze the nurse´s lived experience during the application of care. Conclusion. Narratives emerge from the practice and from the experiences that are meaningful to nursing. They are essential for understanding the core concepts that govern the profession, for understanding the processes involved in the convergence of these processes in reality, and for generating knowledge.REFERENCES
