ABSTRACT
Desquamative gingivitis (DG) is considered a clinical manifestation of some inflammatory and immunological diseases. It is not considered a diagnosis in itself, but rather a condition or clinical term that describes a reddish, glazed and friable gingiva due to the peeling of the surface epithelium that it can progress to ulceration with the presence of whitish pseudomembranes corresponding to necrotic epithelial remains. Its association with entities such as mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP), lichen planus (LP) and pemphigus vulgaris (PV) has been reported. The objective of this case series is to describe GD as a clinical sign of immunological disorders; providing information that can be used by general practice dentists and specialists in periodontics for the early diagnosis of these disorders and their referral to the oral doctor for pharmacological treatment.
