ABSTRACT
Introduction: toxocariasis is a zoonotic disease that can be characterized by rheumatic, neurological or asthmatic symptoms; caused by the roundworm of the dog (Toxocara canis), of the cat (Toxocara cati) or the roundworm of the fox (Toxocara canis). Case presentation: a case in an adolescent with a picture of high-intensity abdominal pain with intradomiciliary risk factors due to the presence of an unvaccinated or dewormed dog, with additional respiratory complications and with the presence of persistent eosinophilia that led to different differential diagnoses and that in the end its diagnosis was achieved through a liver biopsy despite having negative serology, with which management was later added with immidazole and as an adjunct to corticosteroids. Conclusion: toxocariasis is frequent and can be found in any form of presentation; It should be considered in all pediatric patients with a specific clinical picture or not but associated with eosinophilia. It is very important to diagnose it and start appropriate treatment, to avoid complications and sequelae, also always considering endemic areas and risk factors.REFERENCES
