ABSTRACT

The digital mucoid cyst is the most common benign soft tissue tumor of the hand and is usually located lateral to a joint or tendon. They are slow-growing lesions and are often associated with underlying osteoarthritis of the distal interphalangeal joint. These lesions tend to recur, so there is great controversy regarding the available therapeutic options since none is consistently successful. This review addresses the different treatments that currently exist, from conservative therapy to surgical procedures, their indications and recurrence rates to determine which is the ideal one.
