ABSTRACT
Introduction: paracetamol is a drug very frequently used in pediatrics and this is indicated above all for its antipyretic and analgesic effect. Under the objective of knowing the acceptance of the flavor that three commercial brands keep, the present investigation was carried out.
Material and methods: in a prospective, comparative and blinded study in a sample composed of 47 students, 29 (61.7%) women and 18 (38.3%) men, the evaluation was carried out taking the Likert scale as a measurement instrument, they should have a minimum of three hours of fasting. They were given these trade brands to try, both the evaluator and the evaluated did not know which commercial brand this corresponded to, these were classified as A, B and C.
Results: an overall score of 3.43 ± 0.97 (range 1 to 5) was obtained for Tempra, 4.72 ± 0.45 (range 4 to 5) for Tylenol and 2.13 ± 0.85 (range 1 to 5) for Son's Piral, finding statistically significant differences globally and between each of the drug presentations (p < 0.00001).
Conclusion: the Tylenol trademark was the one with the best acceptance with a statistically significant value. These results should be considered in the prescription of this antipyretic-analgesic. Even though this evaluation was carried out in adolescents and adults, it serves as the basis for prescribing it to children and achieving better compliance with the doses by prescribing the one with the best acceptance.
