ABSTRACT
Liver abscesses are very uncommon in high-income countries, especially among the pediatric population. They require a high index of suspicion for their correct diagnosis and early treatment, with an important morbimortality in case of delayed treatment. We describe the case of a 10-year-old boy from Venezuela, with no medical or surgical history of interest, who presented with an amoebic liver abscess that required percutaneous drainage for its resolution and antimicrobial treatment.
