Integral treatment in a diabetic patient

ABSTRACT
Objective: To evaluate the integral treatment in a diabetic patient. Observational design, prospective, controls and cases. Place: Familiar Medical Unit No. 184, Delegation in the State of Mexico, Social Security Mexican Institute. Material and methods: A sample was taken at random from 32 patients being divided into two groups of 16, as characteristics being patients of the Social Security Medical Unit No. 184, and in treatment of diabetes mellitus both sexes and between the ages of the 30 to 65 years old. The integral management was applied to the experimental group including educational, theory-practical activities in the medical nutritional, social and psychological fields. Results: The study had a statistically significant result trough of the Student´s t with a p ‹ 0.001. In the experimental group an average decrease was observed in the glucose from 38.7% in weight of the 6.14% and the 31.25% of patients at the end of the study were exclusively handled with diet treatment. Within the control group an average decrease was found of 6.14% in glucose and 1.28% in weight. Conclusions: We found a significant difference in both groups in relation of glucose level in whole blood an weight, concluding that fundamental aspect is the prompt and adequate nutritional treatment.REFERENCES
