ABSTRACT

Swimming pool granuloma is a chronic infection caused by Mycobacterium marinum following injury of the skin with exposure to contaminated water. Diagnosis can be challenging because of its multiple clinical presentation, low prevalence, and difficult isolation of the causal agent. We present a clinical case in which acid fast bacilli were found in histologic examination. Complete response was obtained after treatment with clarithromycin and minocycline.
