ABSTRACT
Background: Plasmacytomas outside the medulla, that is, extramedullary plasmacytomas, are extremely rare. They are frequently located in the head and neck, mainly affecting the nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, larynx, and nasopharynx. Extramedullary plasmacytomas may appear associated with a previous myeloma. The diagnosis is based on the detection of a neoformation of plasma cells in an extramedullary site, absence of bone lesions and absence of clonal cells in the bone marrow study.Clinical case: A 54-year-old female patient with extramedullary plasmacytoma in whom an infiltrative and metastatic process was ruled out.
Conclusions: Complete surgical resection as well as radiation therapy are treatment options.
