ABSTRACT
Primary intracavitary cardiac tumors are rare. Cardiac myxoma is the most common of these tumors. The percentage of variation estimated between 0.01 and 0.03%. We present a case of a 57-year-old female patient with a myxoma, unique, 3.2 x 3.6 cm located in the left atrium. The diagnosis was made by transthoracic echocardiography, without using another diagnostic test. In this case, the diagnosis of cardiac myxoma was incidental. Transthoracic echocardiography is an indispensable tool for diagnosis and follow-up after surgery in these types of patients. Surgical intervention with total tumor excision is the treatment of choice, with satisfactory success rates and applied as a curative treatment.
