ABSTRACT
Introduction: currently, there are few studies that evaluate the tolerable ranges of alignment of prosthetic components and how they influence the functionality of the patient. This is a factor that is directly related to the surgeon, so it is important to establish this influence, since it could be a risk factor for an unacceptable functional result.
Objective: to determine the relationship of functional results according to the alignment of the prosthesis components in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty, from January 2021 to May 2022 at Hospital Ángeles Mocel.
Material and methods: we carried out an analytical study, with a total of 111 patients divided into two groups; patients with their 3 prosthetic components in normal ranges and those with atypical angles.
Results: most of the patients were in the range of 70-80 years (50%), with a predominance of the female sex (70.3%). Of the total number of patients, 50.5% had their prosthetic components with some atypical value and 49.5% had normal values. Once the relationship between the presence of some atypical angle with functionality (p < 0.001), symptoms (p < 0.001) and pain (p < 0.001) was made, a significant statistical relationship was found.
Conclusion: there is a significant difference between the alignment of the prosthetic components and the functional results perceived by the patient.
