ABSTRACT
Medicine is science, art, and technique. The amount of scientific knowledge constantly increases, the humanist dimension of medicine frequently is relegated and even forgotten in daily clinical practice and the technical quality is difficult to guarantee and evaluate. The thirteen discussion points proposed by Dr. Rirchard Smith on the Bristol Case are analyzed and applied to the situation of Mexico with regand to the tmst that should exist in the physician-patient relationship and the offer of care that physicians provide, as well as changes occurring in current medical practice and the fact that frequently cases are published in which physicians are not acting according to evidence and that they continue to offer poor care.
