ABSTRACT
Introduction: Psoriasis is an inflammatory chronic disease of the skin; multiple therapies have been used. Aloe vera can result efficiently, less expensive and without adverse manifestations. Objective: To evaluate the usefulness of aloe cream at 50 % as a treatment in vulgar psoriasis.
Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a control random group was carried out, with the clinical diagnosis of vulgar psoriasis, in the Dermatology Consultation at Luis Li Trigent Policlinic, from Güines, Mayabeque province, from January to December, 2015. The population was formed by 60 patients distributed in two groups, the first one received the treatment with triamcinolone and the second one with aloe cream at 50 %.
Results: The medium ages was from 48 to 57 years old. The female sex prevailed in both groups. When the treatment finished, the whitening appeared, in the 90 % of the patients in the first group and the 61.5 % in group two. In the second week, both groups responded to treatments. An adverse reaction presented in group two, with mild intensity.
Conclusions: Aloe cream at 50 % is efficient in the treatment of psoriasis as an alternative medication to the use of topic steroids. The whitening is achieved in the three-quarter parts of the patients. A clinical response is obtained from the second week, it is innocuous, through the procedure.
