COVID-19 pandemic: telemedicine and teledermatology growth

ABSTRACT
Currently, telemedicine is known as the series of strategies that
uses telecommunications technology to offer remote health
care services. Recent technological advances have increased the
ability of clinicians to apply it.
On the other hand, dermatology is ideally suited for this
care model because it relies on visual elements, captured
by digital imaging. The pandemic outbreak by the contagious
SARS-COV-2 virus, raised an impulse to teledermatology. In the
first part of this paper, we review the impact and historical origins
of COVID-19 pandemic in telemedicine and teledermatology,
the strategies in patient care and modalities of interactions,
technological requirements and the state of the art in telemedicine
in dermatology.
