ABSTRACT
Measles is an exanthematous illness caused by a
Paramyxaviridae, it is highly contagious. The virus is transmitted by transfer of nasopharyngeal secretions to the respiratory mucous membranes or conjuntivas of susceptible individuals, the more frequent complication is pneumonia. Before vaccination was available, epidemics occurred in children, usually by spring, now it appears in teenagers and young adults. An optimal coverage exceeding 95% is desirable. Measles vaccine given by aerosol can be a good alternative for mass vaccination, for children less than 1 year old and as a booster, not only because of the lower risk of complications but because of good levels of immunization.
