ABSTRACT
Family Medicine is a specialty through which continuous and comprehensive medical care is offered to the individual and their family along with a multisystem approach. The human being is a social entity in constant interaction with its environment. The theories of complexity and complex systems thinking do not escape the reality of the health professional. This article aims to describe how the medical specialty is linked to complexity theories. For the primary care physician, working
with multiple disciplines at different levels generates a process of continuous improvement in patient care, with the purpose of transforming medical care.
