ABSTRACT
Seminoma, a condition that frequently affects young male patients, is the most common testicular germ cell neoplasm. The purposes of the study were to describe a case of classic seminoma and review the literature about the topic. A case is presented of a male 65-year-old patient who reported an increase in volume and pain in his left testicle. Physical examination found a painful mass in the patient's left testicle. Testicular ultrasonography revealed a left testicular tumor of 6x5x3.5 cm. Left orchiectomy and high spermatic cord ligation were performed. The anatomopathological study confirmed the diagnosis of classic seminoma. The patient evolved satisfactorily and currently attends the oncology service. In conclusion, classic seminoma may present at any age, and should be considered in elderly men with a painful testicular mass. However, it does not constitute a health problem in advanced ages. Inguinal orchiectomy with high spermatic cord ligation is an appropriate technique for tumor excision.REFERENCES
