ABSTRACT

Introduction: The alcoholism has become a problem of health, with affections on the individual, the family and the society.
Objective: implement an intervention strategy in the attention to the alcoholic patients.
Methods: It was carried out an intervention in health with family and social participation in the area of health of Delicias, Municipality Puerto Padre from May of 2019 to June of 2021. 211 of alcoholic patients constituted the study population. The sample included 45 patients and family that consented to participate in the investigation. The information was obtained through a form, was analyze social and demographics variables, clinical and of family function and risk perception, those that were analyzed to technical of descriptive statistic.
Results: Moderately functional families were increased to 40% and functional families to 13.3%. Habitual alcohol consumption was reduced by 46.7%. After the end of the intervention, 9 and 7 patients had family and social support for 60 % and 46.7 %, respectively, achieving a percentage increase of more than 100 %. The Likert scale was useful to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention.
Conclusions: It was demonstrated that when including to the family and the community in the preventive actions it is possible to modify the knowledge on the effects of the alcoholism, the risk perception, and it is gotten a better family function and social support.
