ABSTRACT

Objective: To describe a patient who had dural metastases, as a form of presentation of a prostate adenocarcinoma.
Clinical case report: An 81-year-old patient went to the emergency room, with no previous diagnosis of prostate carcinoma, who had progressive headache. Computerized axial tomography was performed, which revealed an image suggestive of chronic, bilateral subdural hematoma, with isodense, nodular lesions, located in the dura mater distribution territory. The pathological anatomy study showed that they were metastatic lesions. Subsequently, prostate adenocarcinoma was identified. The patient did not receive complementary cancer treatment due to family decision.
Conclusion: Dural metastases from prostatic adenocarcinoma are rare; however, they should be included in the differential diagnosis of progressive headache in men over 70 years of age with or without a history of malignant prostate tumors.
