Abbé flap in secondary cheiloplasty, literature review and presentation of three cases

ABSTRACT

Various flaps have been proposed for the reconstruction of secondary cleft lip deformity; Of these, the Abbé flap is a very useful flap that can be used for moderately sized defects of the upper and lower lips with great cosmetic results. The objective of this study is to describe the Abbé flap as an alternative treatment for secondary cleft lip, for which we present 3 different cases managed with this flap and carry out a brief review of the literature. The Abbé flap is an effective and useful alternative to secondary cheiloplasty to reconstruct the contour of the vermilion tubercle and cupid's bow, giving the lips a natural appearance.
