ABSTRACT
S. Schleiferi is a Gram-positive
coccus that belongs to the group of
coagulase-negative staphylococci and
is part of the normal microflora of
human skin and mucous membranes.
In recent years, it has been considered
an opportunistic nosocomial
microorganism, with some reports
of infection in humans that mostly
correspond to postoperative
infections in older adult patients with
comorbidities. We present the case of
a 56-year-old woman who developed
hemodialysis catheter associated
bacteriemia by S. Schleiferi in a
tertiary care hospital in Cartagena de
Indias, Colombia.
