ABSTRACT
Introduction: urticaria is the presences of itching wheals with or without angioedema and is one frequent reason for seeking medical attention for the pediatric patient. When it lasts for more than six weeks or persists despite treatment, it is classified as chronic urticaria and should be addressed and treated in a systematic way to determine whether it is triggered by inducible elicitors or as chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU).
Cases report: we present two cases of pediatric patients with CSU in whom the approach was performed in a systematic manner until requiring management with the biological agent (omalizumab), after which optimal control was achieved.
Conclusions: CSU in the pediatric patient is a clinical entity that must be recognized at all different levels of healthcare to achieve the optimal approach and adequate therapeutic management of patients.
