ABSTRACT
Lichen sclerosus is a chronic inflammatory disease, more frequent
in women, usually observed between 40 and 60 years
of age, and unusual in children. A multifactorial origin has been
proposed that includes genetic, immunological, traumatic, hormonal,
infectious, and idiopathic factors. Lichen sclerosus mainly
affects the genital area, although it can also be present on any
other part of the body surface. This extra-genital location occurs
in 15-20% of the patients, and is characterized by the presence
of small ivory-white macules and papules, which are grouped
into shiny or slightly erythematous hypopigmented plaques of
variable shape and size, and atrophic appearance. We present
two patients with extragenital lichen sclerosus, a 54-year-old female
and a 17-year-old male.
