ABSTRACT
Introduction: tuberculosis is one of the main public health problems worldwide, and the child population is no exception. Although the main manifestations are due to pneumonic pathology, it is not uncommon for extrapulmonary clinical data to occur. The ganglionic chains are one of the main sites of involvement in this variable of infection, and its presentation is associated with some type of immunodeficiency. Case report: 8-year-old male, previously healthy, who came to this hospital unit reporting difficult-to-control fever associated with the appearance of enlarged lymph nodes in the left side of the body. Surgery of the affected conglomerates was performed and through the pathological analysis of the biopsy, the presence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis was reported, for which the diagnosis of extrapulmonary tuberculosis of lymphatic origin was integrated. It was subsequently protocolized and the corresponding treatment was provided, evolving adequately to date. Conclusion: in the presence of enlarged lymph nodes in pediatric patients, it is important to always consider the possibility that they are undergoing an infectious process associated with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. A thorough clinical evaluation and an adequate study protocol are important in this type of scenario to achieve timely diagnosis and immediate treatment of this disease.REFERENCES
