ABSTRACT
Thrombosis of the splanchnic circulation secondary to acute pancreatitis is an entity that has gained more interest and has become relevant to this pathology. The incidence is variable, estimating a prevalence of 10.2 to 17.4% in intentional cohorts. The clinical presentation is dependent on the segment of the circulatory system affected. We have two lines of diagnosis for the diagnosis: methods that do not involve imaging studies, especially markers such as D-dimer and lactate, which have been shown to be of limited use. Furthermore, imaging studies: Doppler ultrasound and contrasted tomography depending on the affected vascular territory. Concerning pharmacological treatment, the use of anticoagulation at therapeutic doses has not shown an increased risk of bleeding or a significant reduction in mortality. In conclusion, thrombosis of the splanchnic circulation related to acute pancreatitis is an entity that is more frequent than previously believed, even though the benefit of treatment is still inconclusive.
