ABSTRACT
In the early days of liposuction, the adipose tissue that was removed was discarded, nowadays it is useful as a filler, as a precursor of stem cells, as a biological dressing. Traditional liposuction uses a suction pump or syringe to remove the adipose tissue. Several technologies have been designed to make the surgeon's work efficient when performing liposuction; one of these is ultrasound. assistance has the adequate viability to be integrated in the site to which it is transferred. The aim of this work is to know the degree of viability of the adipose tissue obtained with Heus (fourth generation ultrasound) assistance, liposuction. We took three samples of adipose tissue from 30 patients: one sample with liposuction without ultrasound, another sample with Heus at 40% power and another sample with Heus at 70% power. The samples, 90 in total, underwent histological viability analysis with the hematoxylin-eosin method. The pathology results showed the same percentage of viability when Heus was not used as when the equipment at 40 and 70% power was used. We can conclude, according to the results of the histological study, that fourth-generation ultrasound-assisted liposuction with Heus equipment maintains the same viability of adipocytes as traditional liposuction.
