ABSTRACT
Objective. Clinical and histological description of basal cell carcinoma in patients under 40 years old.
Material and methods. Observational,
descriptive, retrospective and transversal study in individuals under 40 years old with clinic and histologic diagnosis of basal
cell carcinoma in the Hospital Civil of Culiacan from January 1, 1994 to December 31, 2017.
Results. We studied 1078 patients of
whom 15.83% (n = 171) corresponded to individuals under 40 years old. The average age was 35 years. Female sex was affected by
57%. Phototype III was most frequent in 44%. 100% of cases occurred in head and of this, nose was the most affected area in 66%.
Nodular morphology predominated at 63%. The most common histological pattern was solid in 58% but the aggressive histological
variants corresponded to 41% (basosquamous, mixed, adenoid, morpheiform and superficial form).
Conclusions. Basal cell carcinoma
is common in the state of Sinaloa Mexico and with a high percentage of aggressive histological forms in individuals unde r 40 years old.
