ABSTRACT
Objective: To determine that the use of Totaltrack in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy has better comfort in awakening
than in those who use conventional orotracheal intubation.
Methodology: An open controlled clinical trial was conducted, with
patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy during the period March 2017 and March 2018, at the Hospital Civil de Culiac án.
Two groups of 90 patients each were randomized. The final sample consisted of 173 patients; Group with Totaltrack intubation (n=87)
and in Group with conventional intubation (n=86).
Results: Comfort upon awakening is defined as the absence of cough, odynophagia
or PONV. At 30 minutes, 72.4% patients in the intubation group with Totaltrack and 36% in the group with conventional orotracheal
intubation (p = .000) what is included. At 60 minutes 79.3% and 45.9% patients in the intubation group with Totaltrak and con ventional
intubation, respectively (p = .000).
Conclusions: The use of Totaltrack for endotracheal intubation offers better comfort when awake
than conventional intubation in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
