ABSTRACT
The diagnosis and management of visual function alterations, at an early age, is of vital importance. The subject is in the critical period of development of visual acuity. At that time, correct monocular and binocular visual development is guaranteed. The reason for study is a 20-year-old female patient who comes to the Optometry laboratory for headaches, pain and redness of the eye, after sustained visual effort and discomfort to see far and near. It indicates that she was treated in childhood for presenting strabismus and congenital cataract of the left eye, operated before three months of life. He also refers that after the surgery, despite the follow-up in the consultations, he did not perform the correct treatment. In the ophthalmological examination, no alterations were found in the right eye and a slight ectopic pupil and aphakia in the left eye. What is interesting about this case is related to the fact that the results of the optometric examination revealed myopia in the right eye and compound hyperopic astigmatism in the left eye, accompanied by amblyopia. Congenital esotropia was diagnosed due to deprivation amblyopia.REFERENCES
