ABSTRACT
The giant tumor of the tendon sheath is a benign tumor arising from joint synovia, bursae and tendon sheaths. Their variable clinical presentation is related to variations in site and progression. It occurs in adult population and exceptionally in children, predominates in male gender. Clinically it presents as neoformations of the interphalangeal junction. Diagnosis is supported by imaging (magnetic resonance imaging and tomography) and by histopathological confirmation. Optimally complete resection is the principle of first-line treatment, the use of radiotherapy and biological therapy as adjuvants has been described. The prognosis is good and the recurrence rate is associated with incomplete removal of the tumor. The most common differential diagnosis is synovial cysts followed by other types of cysts and angiolipomas.
