Adhesive small bowel obstruction

ABSTRACT

Small bowel obstruction is a common medical-surgical emergency, representing approximately 20% of all hospital admissions; the main etiology is postoperative adhesions in developed and developing countries between 65-90% of cases.
It is not easy to define based on clinical, complicated scenarios with intestinal ischemia, a correlation with laboratory and radiological studies should be performed to correctly determine the therapeutic behavior to be followed.
This paper is a review of medical literature of Adhesive small bowel obstruction, the medical and surgical management and pre vention measures for surgical adhesions.
