ABSTRACT
Patients with COVID-19 disease show a rapid evolution towards
acute respiratory failure, and therefore require mechanical
ventilation in the ICU. The recommendations included in this
document are aimed at ICU nursing staff and emergency services,
aiming to standardize nursing care in COVID-19 patients in need
of mechanical ventilation. They reflect the scientific evidence
to date published, are under continuous review and may be
perfected according to knowledge of the disease, the experience
of institutions and international publications on the subject.
Actions related to the management of contacts and the pediatric
patient are not included.
