ABSTRACT
Two clinical cases are presented (50 years’ female and 47 years male) with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, treated at the International Center for Neurological Restoration, period 2002-2018. A descriptive, retrospective and longitudinal study of neuropsychological evaluations before and 15 years after surgical treatment was carried out. The following were applied: structured interview, Rey's auditory-verbal learning test, Reproduction test and copy of the Rey-Osterreith complex figure, Anxiety-depression-state-trait inventory/IDARE/IDERE and Quality of life scale/QOLIE-31. Case 1: average performance verbal-auditory/immediate/delayed memory. Average visual-spatial/immediate/deferred memory execution. Low levels of state anxiety and medium levels of trait anxiety. Low levels depression-state-trait. Quality of life 42 % improvement. Case 2: decreased verbal-auditory/immediate memory and poor/delayed performance. Execution low visuo-spatial/immediate/deferred memory. High levels of anxiety-state-trait. Middle levels depression-state-trait. Quality of life 18 % improvement. Heterogeneity with a tendency towards long-term stability in verbal-auditory/deferred memory, visual-spatial/immediate and deferred memory, anxiety-trait and depression-state-trait was observed in the cases studied 15 years after surgery for epilepsy. An improvement in the quality of life is verified in the patients evaluated in the very long term.REFERENCES
