ABSTRACT
Introduction. Multiple sclerosis is a demyelinating, inflammatory and chronic disease of the central nervous system. There is a relative consent respect the presence of affectations cognitivas in these patients. Several studies have been characterized by a high level of heterogeneity from the clinical view point, while a high variability is also observed in the used methodology. To determine the neuropsicological profile and the dissability degree in patients diagnosed as multiple sclerosis relapse remission.
Methods. 26 patients were studied with diagnosis of sclerosis multiple relapse-remission, to evaluate attention functions evaluated, by the memory, language, abilities visoespaciales and front executive domains and their relationship with the dissability degree.
Results. The 88, 46 % of patients showed cognitive dysfuntion. The domains more affected were the verbal auditory memory, the front executive functions and in less measure the attention function. The dissability degree was in tha range of light and moderate and was not in relationship to the cognitive impairment and the dissability degree.
Conclusions. The highest psychic functions showed a differential affectation to the different cognitive domains in relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis patients and did not show relationship with the dissability.
