ABSTRACT
Neurofibroma is one of the neural sheath tumors that occurs due to proliferation of Schwann cells, mast cells, fibroblasts and increased production of collagen, it is almost always benign and is generally a manifestation of neurofibromatosis. They tend to grow as well-differentiated masses, generally found in or under the skin, bone and retroperitoneal tissues, being uncommon in the mediastinum and intra-abdominal organs. We describe a clinical case that presents 23-year-old neurofibromatosis type 1, with no family history of suffering from the disease, presenting multiple café-au-lait lesions, dysphagia to solid and semi-solid foods, and intense dyspnea with chest pain, demonstrating a giant neurofibromatous lesion in the right hemithorax.REFERENCES
