ABSTRACT
Methods: The use of hospital services, both essential and those suspended due to the contingency, during the first three months of
the pandemic in 2020 were compared with the previous four years. Data was extracted from electronic archives. A Kolmogorov-
Smirnoff test was used to analyze the normality of data. The comparison with previous years was done using the ANOVA test, and
nonparametric data was analyzed using the Krustal-Wallis test.
Results: The use of services decreased during 2020. A statistically significant reduction was observed in hospital admissions, surgeries,
Emergency consultations and chemotherapies.
Conclusions: The covid-19 pandemic affected the use of essential hospital services that were not suspended during the sanitary
contingency.
