ABSTRACT
Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young is a genetically and clinically heterogeneous subtype of
type 2 diabetes, characterized by early onset autosomal dominant inheritance and primary defect
in insulin secretion. This article reviews the pathophysiologic basis of MODY, describes its clinical
manifestations and discusses its diagnosis.
