ABSTRACT
The Coronavirus disease currently has the world on epidemiological alert, which is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, was first diagnosed
in Wuhan, China. Currently this disease is the first cause of maternal morbidity and mortality, therefore mentioning the importance
of the care that must be taken regarding breastfeeding, which can be done in the rooming-in or through manual extraction of
milk with adequate hygiene measures, since the benefits that breastfeeding brings to the neonate outweigh the risks. There is still no
adequate documentation that the virus passes into breast milk, so it is considered that breast milk is not a source of direct infection of
SARS-CoV-2, there is only detection of IgG type antibodies, not IgM against SARS-CoV-2.
