ABSTRACT
Introduction: Polydrug users with a preferential intake of methamphetamine or even abstainers who have been in similar conditions, may present significant functional alterations at the level of the prefrontal cortex.
Objective: Identify the neuropsychological alterations of these users and the changes that can be compare with participants in abstinence.
Methods: 30 young people participated in the sample, divided into 3 groups: active consumption, abstinence and no consumption; evaluated by the Battery of Executive Functions and Frontal Lobes (BANFE II), and monitored by ProCom Infiniti, a neurological and biological feedback team.
Results: There were significant statistically differences in the groups of active consumption and abstainers, for the general neuropsychological processes and of the dorsolateral region, as well as in the hemispheric feedback and blood pressure volume.
Conclusions: The poly-users who use methamphetamine as an impact drug can trigger important neuropsychological alterations, however, the withdrawal process can provide certain brain readjustments.
