ABSTRACT
Neurilemomas are rare and benign tumors derived from the peripheral nerve sheath, composed of proliferation of perineural Schwann cells with a characteristic pattern. They are generally benign, slow-growing, and are frequently detected incidentally or with local symptoms secondary to compression of neighboring organs. These solitary tumors are located mainly in the head and neck, often along the path of the nerves, and are particularly rare among genitourinary tumors. We present the case of a 45-year-old female patient, white, with a health history who attended the surgery consultation at the Dr. Salvador Allende Clinical-Surgical Hospital, reporting very abundant menstruation, difficulty defecating and vaginal discomfort during sexual intercourse. . The gynecological physical examination revealed a tumor on the posterior wall of the vagina of +/- 5-7 cm, rounded, regular, of elastic consistency, not very movable, which was confirmed by rectal examination. A negative transrectal BAAF of neoplastic cells was performed. Treatment was surgical, with en bloc excision of the posterior vaginal wall tumor. The specimen was sent to pathological anatomy after the procedure reported, a tumor of a nerve line of 83.4 x 74.2 mm, confirming Vaginal Neurilemoma. What is interesting in this clinical case is related to the evolution, form of presentation and the low incidence of these tumors. Until now, a similar case had not been reported in our country.REFERENCES
