Bone resorption in a patient diagnosed with leprosy

ABSTRACT
Leprosy disabilities primarily affect the peripheral nervous system in its more distal branches. Anesthetic disorders, motor paralysis and trophic disorders, cause countless clinical manifestations and disabilities in the eyes, hands and feet. The objective of this work was to present the case of a man diagnosed with leprosy who presents with bone resorption as a complication. The case presentation of a 55-year-old patient with 12-year-old disease and major hand and foot disability who was diagnosed as lepromatous leprosy by the clinic and skin biopsy is presented. He presents multiple ulcerated lesions at the level of the legs and arms. Signs of periostitis in the right tibia with bone resorption of the phalanges of the third, fourth and fifth toes of the right foot. He presented clinical improvement of injuries after pharmacological treatment.REFERENCES
