ABSTRACT
The main indications for urinary tract drainage are pyonephrosis,
preservation of renal function in case of distal
obstruction and urine diversion in cases of distal urinary
fistula or leak. These urinary tract drains include nephrostomies,
placement of a nephroureteral catheter or a double-J
stent. In this article we review urinary drainage and the selection
of the best device according to the type of solution
that is intended to be given to a certain clinical setting.
