Oral mucosal melanoma in an elderly. Case report

ABSTRACT

Oral mucosal melanoma is an infrequent malignant neoplasm, aggressive and associated with poor prognosis. Even though the mouth is an accessible and easily visualized anatomical region, oral melanoma is usually diagnosed in advanced stages. The treatment for melanoma is radical and in older patients the treatment decision is a complex challenge. Herein, we present the case of 86-year-old women who presented a melanoma of the oral mucosa, in which it was decided not to perform any type of treatment.
