ABSTRACT
Nevus sebaceous of Jadassohn is a congenital hamartomatous
lesion, which involves sebaceous gland, trichilemmal, and apocrine
proliferative changes. It presents three clinical stages; the
second stage is characterized by benign tumors arising. One
of the most common benign adnexal tumors is syringocystadenoma
papiliferum. It is associated with nevus sebaceous
of Jadassohn in 40% of the cases. Syringocystadenoma papiliferum
has different clinical variations, when is associated with
nevus sebaceous of Jadassohn, clinically it arises as an exophytic
tumor, ulcerated with erythema, and can bleed easily. Surgical
resection is necessary to confirm diagnosis and is also the treatment
of choice. It is recommended surgical resection before
puberty since it can evolve to a malignant tumor. A case of
syringocystadenoma papilliferum of the scalp in a child with a
nevus sebaceous has been presented.
