ABSTRACT
A retrospective study was conducted in children between three and 17 years of age with a confirmed diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection (by antigenic test, PCR or serology) from March to December 2020. The children were treated in two hospitals in Madrid, both as outpatients and inpatients The prevalence of asthma was determined using the ISAAC1 questionnaire. Our results showed that asthma was not found as a risk factor for hospitalization, but there was an increase in antiasthmatic treatment among those hospitalized. We can conclude that a history of asthma was not a risk factor for SARS-CoV-2 infection in our series, but active asthma could be a conditioning factor for more severe disease and for the need for hospitalization for COVID-19 in children.REFERENCES
