ABSTRACT
Background: Lobular capillary hemangioma is a benign vascular lesion that can
occur on both skin and mucosa anywhere in the human body. It often affects pregnant
women and, if located in the nasal cavity, can cause nasal respiratory failure and recurrent
epistaxis, although this location is not common.
Clinical case: A 35-year-old female patient in her last three months of pregnancy
began to suffer from a rapid growth of a vascular nature in her right nostril that covered
the entire nasal vestibule. The injury caused nasal respiratory failure and recurrent
epistaxis. Total excision was performed one month after childbirth, with histopathology
result of lobular capillary hemangioma.
Conclusions: Nasal lobular capillary hemangioma is an injury that may origin
recurrent epistaxis in pregnant women. Once childbirth has taken place, the best
treatment is resection.
