ABSTRACT
Objective: To describe the proportion of symptoms and comorbidities in patients
infected with SARS-CoV-2 at Hospital Español in Mexico City.
Material y Método: A cross-sectional/descriptive study, done at Hospital
Español in Mexico City with SARS-CoV-2 positive patient medical files from March
to July 2020.
Results: In the studied period, 239 patients were found, 84 (35%) female and 155
(65%) males. The most frequent age ranges were 40-69 years, 162 (62%). Patients with
outpatient care were 85 (35%) showing a higher proportion of the following symptoms:
asthenia and adynamia (67%), myalgia and arthralgia (57.6%), fever (52.9%), headache
(50.5%) and cough (48.2%). Hospitalized patients were 154 (64.4%) and showed a
higher frequency of the following symptoms: asthenia and adynamia (66.8%), dyspnea
(64.9%), fever (61.6%), myalgia and arthralgia (59%) and cough (57.1%). Those 34
patients who died presented: asthenia and adynamia (64%), dyspnea (61%), fever
(61%) and cough (50%).
Conclusions: There was a higher percentage of males and patients between 40 and
69 years old, a higher proportion of patients required in-hospital care. Symptoms in
more severe patients were asthenia, adynamia, dyspnea, fever and cough, symptoms
than should alert us about possible complications.
